El Fenix Restaurant

The El Fenix restaurant is the original Tex-Mex located in Dallas Texas and dates back to the 19Th century. The original name of the restaurant was Martinez Cafe and was founded by Miguel Martinez. He began working in the kitchen of the Oriental hotel in downtown Dallas where he developed his unique culinary skills. In the beginning his restaurant only featured American type food. He later had the unique idea to offer his guest exotic taste of Mexican food. Combining this he was the original inventor of what we now call Tex-Mex.
